Osmotherley
Welcome to Osmotherley Pre-school
Osmotherley Pre-school is an Ofsted rated Outstanding Pre-School setting, situated in the scenic North Yorkshire Moors village of Osmotherley. We work closely with Osmotherley School, situated next door. Children benefit from the strong link, making for a natural progression into full time education.
Our Pre-School. Our Family.
Our Community
At Osmotherley Pre-School we respect childrens uniqueness and individuality, acknowledging the first five years of a childs life are so important for their learning and development. By getting to know our children and families really well, we adapt our teaching strategies, learning environment and curriculum to meet their individual needs and holistic development, following all areas of the EYFS. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach we believe children learn best through play led by their own interests in a safe, secure and well-resourced environment, with highly trained staff ready to promote, challenge and create opportunities to enhance learning. This in turn builds confidence and great relationships, setting them up for life.
Specialist Areas of Learning
At Osmotherley Pre-school, we pride ourselves on offering a dynamic and nurturing learning environment that follows a comprehensive curriculum designed to foster growth and development in young children. Our curriculum is inspired by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring that every child receives a well-rounded education.
From literacy and maths to active physical learning and language rich environments, our curriculum covers the areas of learning and adapted to meet the needs and development of all children in the setting.
Extras
- We offer Yoga sessions to encourage strong gross motor development but also mindfulness and self-regulation.
- We also practice Makaton throughout sessions, thereby creating a diverse and inclusive environment for everyone.
- We promote a healthy lifestyle through food and active learning in sessions.
- Pre-schoolers should be actively moving for at least three hours a day. Therefore, staff are trained to ensure that we provide the best possible opportunities for movement indoors and outdoors.
- Community is very important to us and we always get involved in our local shows, events and the monthly community coffee morning in the church.
Play-Based Learning:
We believe that children learn best through play. Our activities are designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and social interaction.
At Osmotherley Pre-School play is how we learn. Our trained staff observe and interact through play to implement key learning goals depending on the child. This way your child is learning without realising which is the best way to cement learning.
Holistic Development:
We focus on the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of each child, preparing them for their educational journey ahead.
Outdoor Exploration:
Osmotherley’s picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for outdoor learning, promoting a sense of adventure and appreciation for nature.
At Osmotherley Pre-School we believe outdoor exploration and play is so important for a childs development and healthy well being. To promote our ethos, below is a list of a few activities we do:
- Welly Wednesday – a walk on a Wednesday morning, exploring our local woodland and area.
- Opportunities for daily walks in our surrounding area
- Walk to the Library Bus
